Les began Royal Rangers in Feb. 1983 and not long after that, 1985 to be exact, he was promoted to Sr. Commander at Bartow First Assembly. At the time, he didn?t think it was a promotion, but as time went by, he knew that he was where God wanted him to be. Les took LTC, NTC and joined FCF from Jan. ?April of 1985. Les has held many district, regional and national positions over the years.? He was an Area Comm., Sectional Comm, Division Comm., District Training Coor., Deputy District Comm. and Pow Wow Coor. for the Pen Fl. District. He was appointed as the SE Region Coor. by Richard Mariott in the fall of 2002 where he continues to serve today in the same position. Les has also served as the National Council Secretary and currently serving as the National Council Vice President to Royal Rangers.
Les is married to Jill a Media Specialist for Polk County Schools, the love of his life since 1974, has two sons, a daughter and 4 grand children.
One of the greatest callings on Les? life next to his salvation was when God called him to become a Royal Ranger Leader. Les? experience at his own NTC (National Training Camp) in 1985 spring-boarded him into wanting to become a National Staff member where he could serve on staff at NTC. Les went to the final Staff School in 1990 and then he attended the first ever National Academy at Eagle Rock in 1995. ?He has served on many National Training Staffs over the years, (somewhere between 60-70 camps) including BSTC, RKTC, NTC, ANTC, National Academy and Advanced National Academy, but what is and will always be his second love is NTC. According to him this is where the rubber meets the road so to speak as it relates to the leader. This is where the leader is either born or has a rebirth. It is where he can let his hair down and be a kid again and see God in a way that he has never seen Him before. NTC is where God spoke to Les around? a council fire on a Friday night at NTC eleven years ago and said I want you to train leaders. I want you to train leaders because without good leaders you are not going to keep our boys. Because of this, he has always strived to give his very best when it comes to training men to become great leaders to REACH, TEACH AND KEEP our boys for Jesus Christ.
When he does come back down to earth and he has to go to his second job, the one that pays, he heads off to the City of Bartow where he has been for almost 38 years in the Parks and Recreation Dept.
